Up Close With Chicago's Young Talent Ramona Edith Williams
I'm so proud and honored to feature the talented Ramona. I've had the pleasure of watching her evolve over the last few years. In 2016 I hosted the first Girls Entrepreneur Expo and young Ramona was in attendance alongside the team of talented music artist TStar. Ramona is certainly a natural born star and everyone who was associated with her knew that from the beginning.
Read up on her amazing journey that she has shared with us.
Ramona Edith Williams was born in Joliet, IL in May of 2012 to Educator and Photographer Clarence
Nathan Williams and Homemaker and Momager Lucia Williams. She has a younger brother named Noah who plays hockey. Her family also includes three Beagles and a Siamese. Ramona identifies as Afro-Latina and Louisiana Creole. She is very proud to be a Joliet, IL native. Her main interests are in the Arts. Ramona is very fond of all kinds of Art. She loves music, painting, drawing, and especially performance arts. Ramona is very athletic and can find a good balance of athletics and performance art in Figure Skating. She also enjoys acting and filmed her first feature film at just 6 years old.
Deola: You're extremely talented in both ice skating and acting to be so young, you are certainly a pro. How old were you when you learned how to ice skate? How old were you when you expressed an interest in acting?
Ramona was 2 years old watching Gracie Gold win the 2014 US Figure Skating National Championships.
When she was spinning, I just watched in awe. My mom asked me if I wanted to do that and I
said, “Yes.” I also did pageants. I started when I was one. A lot of people told my parents to put
me into acting or commercials. They eventually found an agent and they said I was a natural.
That’s how I got started. My first few jobs were a Swedish American Hospital campaign and
Bright Directions College Savings Program campaign. I really loved filming both.
I know that being active with work and school can keep you quite busy. What do you enjoy doing the most in your free time?
I am homeschooled so my day is a little different. On my free time, I like to do many things such
as playing with my reborn dolls, drawing, collecting dolls and action figures, playing the piano
and video games with my brother.
Is there an actor or actress you would love to work with at some point in your acting career? Who would that be?
There are several actors I’d like to work with like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Keenan
Thompson, Halle Bailey and Will Ferrel. I really like comedy and think it would be fun to work
with them. I don’t consider Halle a comedian, but I really loved the Little Mermaid. She has such
great acting and singing talent. I love music too. Halle is someone I really think I can learn from
as an actor.
I am amazed at all you’ve accomplished. Watching your journey gives me so much joy. You are a total rock star! What do you think your focus would be for your career as an adult? With your talent, I know that can be a variety of things. Do you have a preference?
In the future, I really want to continue acting as long as I can. It’s difficult and I don’t want to
choose between skating and acting. I am working hard to get into the National Championships
and qualify for the USA Olympic Team. I also really want to become a skating coach one day and
coach people of all ages and backgrounds. I want to work with organizations like Diversify Ice
and really help bring skating to people that normally wouldn’t have access to it.
Ramona you are a joy and a true talent. THANK YOU for taking the time to share more of your journey with me and our readers. I am a fan! Keep up the amazing work!
